What are these home owners thinking?

We are just recovering from a punishing recession in which millions of jobs were lost and portfolios decimated by a market downturn. Across the border, home owners are defaulting on their mortgages in record numbers because they loaded up on mortgage debt at teaser rates and were unable to make mortgage payments when the rates reset at a much higher level. Therefore, it is surprising to read that many Canadians refuse to learn from recent experience and are loading up on long amortization, variable-rate mortgages. The Globe and Mail reported today that mortgage brokers are doing brisk business as many first-time home owners rush in to take advantage of today's (probably temporary) low rates:

It's these buyers who have raised fears of a bubble, negotiating mortgages at historic lows, opting for 35-year terms and making small 5-per-cent down payments to keep monthly outlays down and put previously unaffordable homes within their reach.

Chinese Small-Cap Company Feature: China Yida Holdings Reports Big Top and Bottom Line Growth

As many of you know, we are very bullish on the long-term future of Chinese small cap and mid cap companies for two reasons:

1] The obvious reason - China is the fastest growing economy on the planet and nothing is going to slow down its ascent over the next 50 years and beyond. Investing in growth companies there just makes too much sense.

2] Great Results and Valuations - Many Small Cap Chinese Companies are listing in the US (OTCBB, NYSE Alternext and NASDAQ) with great financial results. Unlike many dubious US Small Cap Companies, Chinese Companies don't seem to believe in losing money or failing to execute in a business plan. As such, 7-digit revenues and profits are very common.

From a valuation point of view, many Chinese companies became a victim of their own success in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009.

Unlike many dubious US Small Cap Companies, Chinese Companies don't seem to believe in losing money or failing to execute in a business plan. As such, 7-digit revenues and profits are very common.

From a valuation point of view, many Chinese companies became a victim of their own success in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009. Why? When the world needed to start liquidating, one of the first places they looked were China where most investors had significant gains to sell into. This resulted in the proverbial baby being thrown out with the bathwater and some great valuations.

Investing Stratetgy: When to Buy Dividend Stocks

With my debt and savings habits under control, lately my thoughts have been more so on investing strategies. One investment strategy that I believe in, as you may know, is dividend investing.

Dividend investing can mean a couple things. It could include investing for yield or dividend growth. Investing for yield is simply basing purchase decisions on the dividend yield of the stock. The higher the percentage yield, the better. The Dogs of the Dow strategy comes to mind for this one. In my opinion, basing investment decisions on yield alone is a dangerous game. More times than not, an abnormally high yield simply means an unsustainable dividend. When the dividend payouts become too much for the company to carry, dividends are typically cut dragging the stock price with it.

Investing for dividend growth is making purchase decisions based on the history of growing dividend payments over the years. Although the initial purchase yield may be lower, it's a great strategy for buy and hold investors as it gives raises to loyal shareholders over time. Buying

LGDI SIGNS LANDMARK AGREEMENT WITH IFFCO, INDIA'S LARGEST FERTILIZER ENTERPRISE

On July 16th, 2008, LGDI and IFFCO, announced this landmark agreement.

IFFCO is India's largest fertilizer enterprise, a cooperative with over 50 million farmers associated with it, primarily engaged in production and marketing of nitrogenous and phosphate fertilizers in India. IFFCO has five fertilizer plants in India with a domestic annual capacity of producing 4.3 million tonnes of phosphatic fertilizers and 4.2 million tonnes of nitrogenous fertilizers.

When your biggest future customer has enough confidence in you to outright own 34,000,00 shares + an option to acquire another 17,000,000 shares, you have to feel good about the company.
